This year’s SEC Symposium is entitled “Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Driving a 21st Century Economy.” Lead by the University of Florida, it will explore the role universities play in preparing individuals to be creative, innovative and entrepreneurial. It will be held September 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
Each day of the event should be illuminating and packed with innovative ideas and new information. On Sunday, the focus is Creativity at the Intersection of the Arts and Other Disciplines. On Monday, it shifts to The University Culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Finally, on Tuesday, the SEC Symposium highlights New Paradigms in Managing Industry Partnerships.
The SEC Symposium’s impact on arts advancement is noble because it has the potential to empower, ignite and unite great minds by utilizing the range of disciplinary strengths present in all Southeastern Conference universities. In addition, it is an opportunity for our work to be seen by hundreds, while drawing attention to arts training. (The event also provides a location for all SEC jazz specialists to meet, exchange ideas and discuss advancements in jazz education.)
Scott Wilson will conduct the SEC Jazz Band comprised of 14 SEC schools and their performance will be held in conjunction with the SEC Presidents, Chancellors and Provosts Reception on Monday, September 21, from approximately 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Hyatt’s Embassy Hall.
